GEO agencies: compare generative engine optimisation services

Generative engine optimisation (GEO) concerns how organisations appear in answers produced by generative search systems. Buyers need to assess both the information on their own website and the external sources that describe them, then distinguish a brand mention from a citation, referral or commercial result.

Understand how your brand is described, cited and compared.

Brand and source baseline

A record of how the brand and competitors appear for a defined sample of queries, including which sources are cited and where descriptions are inaccurate.

Original information

A plan for useful material the organisation can substantiate, such as product specifications, expert explanations, customer research or worked examples. Agree who supplies and approves the evidence.

Website and external visibility

Clear responsibilities for website changes, public business information and relevant editorial outreach. Ask how paid placements are identified and links qualified.

Measurement by market

Separate results by engine, language and country. Track mentions, citations, referrals and conversions as different measures, with consistent sampling and a record of limitations.

Agencies with published GEO services

These 5 examples link to agency-published service information checked on 10 October 2026. They are shown in the existing global ranking order. Inclusion here confirms a published offer, not independently verified results or a new GEO award. This is a selected evidence set, not an exhaustive list of providers.

Questions that make proposals comparable

How do we compare two GEO proposals?

Use the same baseline and business objective. Compare the work each agency will own, its evidence standards, the scope of technical changes and whether outreach costs are included.

What changes for an international business?

An English-language result is not evidence of performance in France or Germany. Specify languages, local terminology, markets, legal review and the source pages used in each test.

What should a GEO case study prove?

It should identify the starting condition, work completed, measurement period and limitations. A rise in mentions does not establish that the work caused additional sales.

Compare providers in your market

Start with the delivery team and evidence that match your brief. For an international engagement, confirm supported languages, meeting times, implementation access and the handling of customer data.

Common GEO questions

How do GEO and AEO overlap?

Both terms describe work on visibility in answers and AI search. AEO briefs often start with customer questions; GEO briefs often include brand representation and source coverage. These are useful buying distinctions, not universal industry definitions.

Is LLM SEO a separate service?

LLM SEO is another label agencies use for improving visibility in language-model-based systems. Ask whether the proposal concerns live search retrieval, content, technical access or measurement. A label does not establish that an agency can alter model training.

Does buying a citation guarantee GEO performance?

No. A paid placement is not a guarantee of inclusion in an AI answer. Evaluate relevance, editorial quality, disclosure and link treatment before approving outreach.

What Google says

Google treats optimisation for its generative search features as part of SEO. Its guidance prioritises useful, original information and existing search fundamentals. The service labels used by agencies do not establish a separate Google certification.
